Grappling Phenom Takes Gold at NAGA -Atlanta, GA
Savannah Christian Elementary Student Erin Mills grabs gold at NAGA in Atlanta, GA
11 year old Erin Mills may have a playful demeanor but this Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner is all business when it comes to the mat. This grappling phenom took home three first place trophies (Girls 80-90 pound NO-GI 1st place, Girls 80-90 pound GI 1st place, and Boys 80-90 pound GI 1st place) from the North American Grappling Association on February 11th, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia. Erin Mills trains at Champions Training Center of Savannah, Georgia and represents Team Lloyd Irvin.
“Erin is a great student to have at Champions, she is constantly learning and pushing herself,” says coach Mushin Corbbrey. Erin Mills attends fifth grade at Savannah Christian Prep School she competes at the 80 –90 pond level and started training various martial arts at age five. July 2007 she started training at Memphis Judo & Jiu Jitsu under Alex Meadows (Black belt under Marcelo Garcia). From there Erin has been on a continual win streak. February 2011 –NAGA Atlanta 1. Girls 70-80 pound No-GI 2nd place 2. Girls 70-80 pound GI 1st place March 2011 –COPA America Georgia State Championship, Atlanta 1. Advanced Girls Combined GI –2nd place 2. Advanced Girls GI 69-81.9 pound 3rd place 3. Advanced Boys No GI 82-94.9 pound 3rd place June 2011 –COPA America South Eastern
Championships, Atlanta 1. Advanced Girls GI 75-85 pound 2nd place 2. Advanced Children’s No GI 69-87 pound 3rd place.
